The Mission Church

Our story

Called to Elizabeth.

In 2026, God called Majestic View Church and the Smith family to reach Elizabeth, Colorado — one of the fastest-growing towns in the state, with a median age of 33 and a community that is widely underchurched. Nathan Smith is moving back to a town where he once lived for 12 years, ready to plant The Mission with a clear calling: to model Christ, mobilize people with the Gospel, and multiply through discipleship.

Our mission

Find Jesus. Fall in love with Jesus. Live out Jesus' mission.

Our purpose is to help people find Jesus, fall in love with Jesus, and live out Jesus' mission through a new church — reaching the 95% of Elbert and Douglas County who are lost.

Our values

What shapes how we live.

01

Connected to God

Everything flows from abiding in Jesus. We stay rooted in Scripture, prayer, and worship so that our work grows out of our relationship with him, not our own striving.

02

Relationships That Advance the Gospel

We build genuine friendships with purpose — loving people well and walking with them toward Jesus, because the Good News travels along the lines of trust.

03

Leaders Embrace and Model

Our leaders don't just point the way; they go first. We embrace the mission personally and model the life we're inviting others into.

04

Disciples Who Make Disciples

Following Jesus includes helping others follow him. Every disciple is equipped to invest in someone else, so faith keeps multiplying from person to person.

05

Bold Vision

We believe God is after the 95% of our region who don't yet know him. That calls for faith-sized goals, not small ambitions.

06

Prayerfully Laid-Out Goals

Big vision, careful steps. We plan prayerfully and specifically, trusting God with the results and stewarding what he entrusts to us.

Our method

Model. Mobilize. Multiply.

Our method follows the pattern of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke — three movements, one mission.

Luke 8:1

Model

Jesus traveled with his disciples, proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom in every town and village. Before sending anyone, he showed them what a life with God looks like. We begin the same way — living out the way of Jesus where people can see it up close.

Luke 9:1–2

Mobilize

Jesus called the Twelve together, gave them power and authority, and sent them out to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal. We equip and send everyday believers — because the mission was never meant to rest on a few.

Luke 10:1–2

Multiply

Jesus appointed seventy-two others and sent them ahead of him, two by two, into every town he was about to visit, telling them to ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers. We multiply disciples, groups, and churches — trusting God for the harvest.

Leadership

Meet Nathan Smith

Nathan Smith

Nathan has spent over two decades investing in students, families, and churches — and he's bringing that experience home to Elizabeth, Colorado to plant The Mission.

Nathan served as Youth and Family Pastor at First Baptist Church of Roswell, where he grew a ministry from 12 students to over 100 across 12 schools, trained and sent out three couples to start ministries of their own, and helped lead the church into churchwide, gospel-advancing discipleship. Before that, he spent 13 years as Associate Pastor at Majestic View Church, overseeing student ministries from nursery through high school and serving as a voting member of the elder board.

Nathan has also coached youth pastors across the country through Multiply Ministries and Dare2Share Ministries, and was ordained as a pastor in 2008. His heart is simple: to invest in, equip, and lead people to know Jesus Christ and make Him known — training people to experience the gospel the way it's described in the book of Acts.

Nathan and his family are excited to bring that same heart to Elizabeth as they plant The Mission.
